"Veep" will begin filming Season 7 in August, almost one year after star Julia Louis-Dreyfus announced she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer. The actress was not in attendance at the awards show, so presenters Mandy Moore and Connie Britton accepted her award for her.
Veep's two victories Sunday night brought Dreyfus's total to nine SAG awards-more than any other actor.
As well as taking home the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series prize at the awards, Julia was also honored as part of the Best Comedy Series Ensemble for the series.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus will be returning to work on hit show Veep in August (18), after completing her treatment for breast cancer. "So honored to win. Today, I'm the one", before adding: "The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let's fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality".
The Seinfeld star announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in September a year ago, just days after winning her sixth consecutive Emmy for her role in the political satire series. She's now scheduled to begin filming the seventh and final season of her hit HBO series "Veep" in August. "It's a really unique, fearless thing she's doing just by being so out there with it". She will also receive a statue as all the other member of the cast who also received another award for the entire ensemble as the best comedy series. "I'm not sure what date we settled on, but we're waiting for her to feel well enough to get back to it", said Casey Bloys, programming president for HBO.
