On Jan 1, during the Seahawks' locker room cleanout, wide receiver Doug Baldwin cautioned against placing blame on Bevell for Seattle's struggles.
The Seahawks, who were also 23rd in rushing (101.8), ended up with a 9-7 mark and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2011.
During its run of five consecutive playoff appearances, Seattle won at least one playoff game in each of those seasons.
Bevell's Seahawks tenure may best be remembered for his role in the play call that cost Seattle Super Bowl XLIX against the New England Patriots in February 2015.
That report comes a day after the Seahawks dismissed offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and hours after word that they may also be parting ways with defensive coordinator Kris Richard. After serving three years at that post, Bevell was promoted to the Packers' quarterbacks coach in 2003, where he remained through 2005 before being plucked by the Vikings.
The Seahawks had unprecedented success with their offense and running game during much of Cable's time with the Seahawks, setting a record with 2,762 rushing yards in 2014.
"It's not play-calling", Baldwin said.
"We've already seen how that goes", he explained to reporters. Coach Pete Carroll left the door open for potential coaching changes when he said after the season that the staff would be evaluated.
The Seahawks had just four rushing touchdowns as a team, and Mike Davis was their leading rusher among running backs with just 240 yards.
One possibility is former UW coach Steve Sarkisian, who worked under Carroll at USC from 2001-04 and again from 2006-08, and has been the offensive coordinator with the Atlanta Falcons this season after having worked at Alabama in 2016.
The Seahawks have fired offensive line coach and assistant head coach Tom Cable, a source has told the Seattle Times.
