The tab will also include the new Overwatch League skins.
Like all the other Overwatch events we've seen over the years, the Overwatch League will have skins, allowing spectators to distinguish between one team from another. Clicking on these buttons takes you to a submenu where you can purchase team skins for all of the game's 26 characters. By the numbers, the entire wardrobe of skins would cost upwards of $1000, though that would really be for the most obsessive collectors and doesn't really seem to be the point of the whole thing as it's to show support for the team that you root for. Activision Blizzard, its CEO Bobby Kotick and other staffers who it hired from traditional sports recruited its ownership for the league throughout 2017. While the stream will be available on Twitch, it's important to note that fans will also be able to check out the matches on MLG.com and the MLG app for iOS and Android, Blizzard's own website for the game's eSports league, and on Blizzard's smartphone app as well. After a heated preseason display, twelve professional teams from America, Britain, China and South Korea will now be going head to head for the official top honours in Blizzard's esports title.
Twitch will be the exclusive worldwide third-party provider for all the Overwatch League matches with streams in English, Korean, and French. The deal, announced earlier today, is believed to be the biggest exclusive distribution deal in esports history.
In massive news for the esports industry, popular online streaming service Twitch has partnered with the Overwatch League in order to provide a steady outlet to broadcast the league's first two seasons to internet users and esports fans across the globe.
"That's why this historic and ground-breaking partnership is perfectly suited for Activision Blizzard, for Twitch, and-most importantly-for our growing global fanbase".
The inaugural season kicks off tomorrow, and will run until June 2018. If you're lucky enough to be in the Los Angeles area, you can actually get tickets to see the matches go down in person at the Blizzard Arena.
The first match of the inaugural season of Overwatch is set for 4:00 pm PST to catch the kids on the West Coast as they get out of school, kids on the East Coast as they finish dinner, and kids in Asia as they get up in the morning.
