As if we are expecting it anytime soon, right?
Uematsu has either composed or helped with the music for most of the main Final Fantasy games, including Final Fantasy VII and its Advent Children movie sequel. Now, according to a leaked, somewhat confidential, conversation between development lead Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase, the game has an estimated year-of-release. And although Hamaguchi apparently finds this unacceptable, it sounds plausible in light of the recently rumored setbacks.
The transcript was obtained by someone attending the event, and we've reached out to Square Enix to corroborate the statement (and if they could have been referring to "all of the episodes" in this episodic release), and to get a possible updated release window.
"Currently I am working on the FFVII Remake, and although Uematsu-san has been working on various titles, I haven't worked directly with him since FFX".
It's unclear just how involved with the project Uematsu is, but at this point, we'll take any good news that we can get. "Those who grew up playing Final Fantasy VII are now developers of Final Fantasy VII Remake, and they're gradually taking on more important roles". "I say younger but they're mostly in their early-30s, and while they're more aged than they were in the past, I believe they're people with plenty of activity to offer".
