Sharing his perspective about the upcoming project, director Nikkhil had earlier said, "I am doing a film on Batla House next, it's a very controversial subject". Abraham will be playing DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who was awarded a President Gallantry Award for this mission. The movie will be shot in Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai and Nepal.
Nikkhil Advani made his directorial debut in 2003 with Kal Ho Naa Ho starring Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. Nikkhil had previously directed John in "Salaam-E-Ishq". The actor confirmed it too by talking about the character, "We are yet to meet, but I've been devouring all the material on him, and from what I've read, he seems like a humble man with an interesting back story". It was only after Ariz, one of the terrorists, was arrested that Yadav was reportedly vindicated and the fake encounter story was buried. The thriller will be based on the 2008 L-18 Batla House encounter case. "As a production house, we make sure that we do a thorough research so the director has all the things ready." he had added.
