The trailer below for the second season of "Marvel's Luke Cage" introduces the Hero of Harlem's formidable new foe: a man named John Irving (Mustafa Shakir), aka the Bushmaster. After clearing his name, bulletproof Luke Cage is now a local celebrity - the kind who stops for selfies with fans and documents his nightly crime-fighting ventures on the 'gram.
No longer able to hide in the shadows after the events of season one, his visibility only increases his need to protect those around him, leading some hard choices. However, as we see from the trailer, that level of comfort that he's feeling with his superpowers might be turning him into someone a bit more brutal than we'd hope.
The two-minute glimpse at Luke Cage's sophomore season, embedded above, finds the bulletproof protagonist navigating his newfound fame, now that half of Manhattan knows he's indestructible. That all changes when new threats arrive in Harlem, particularly a new (still unnamed villain) that seems able to effortlessly hurt Luke.
Luckily for Luke, he won't be alone in this hard fight.
The trailer shows him with his unbelievable girlfriend and everyone's favorite Night Nurse, Claire Temple, but he's also got a formidable ally in Misty Knight. Misty Knight (Simone Missick) is back on the streets with her shiny new bionic arm!
Thirteen all new Marvel's Luke Cage episodes will premiere on June 22, 2018. The new season will be the first appearance of the titular character following The Defenders team-up series, and his fourth overall in the Marvel/Netflix franchise.
So, to keep his city safe, Luke has to do more than fight back. Get your queues ready, and be sure you're all caught up by then!
