Pairings for the fourth annual Gavitt Tipoff Games were announced Tuesday afternoon.
For the college basketball fans unaware, the Gavitt Games is a series between the Big Ten Conference and Big East Conference to start off a new college basketball season, which kind of worked out ideal for the NCAA.
All eight Gavitt Tipoff Games are televised nationally on either FS1 or BTN.
This year's Gavitt Games field includes Villanova, the reigning NCAA Champion, and Penn State, the 2018 NIT Champion.
The BIG EAST and Big Ten Conferences have announced the matchups for the fourth annual Gavitt Tipoff Games, with eight men's basketball contests set for November 13-16, 2018.
The teams will have significantly different looks after they met in the NCAA Tournament title game.
The Nittany Lions and Blue Demons were paired in the inaugural Gavitt Tipoff Games in 2015, with Penn State winning, 68-62, in the Bryce Jordan Center. These nine teams won at least 20 games previous year.
Nebraska will host the Pirates on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The 2018 game will be the first home contest for Nebraska in the series.
As part of the series, Ohio State and the other teams in the Big Ten will participate at least four times in an eight-year period. Teams from both conferences already meet in some traditional rivalry games, and those matchups will continue in the upcoming seasons.
Since Villanova (Big East) and Michigan (Big Ten) happen to play in each of these conferences, this announcement nearly seemed too good to be true for college basketball fans, no matter which team they happen to root for.
