Josh Bell doubled twice and drove in three runs, Sean Rodriguez had an RBI triple, and Colin Moran and Gregory Polanco each added run-scoring doubles for the Pirates. He's played in all 41 games for the Pirates and has played in 51 straight games dating back to last season.
White Sox: Left-handed pitcher Hector Santiago (0-1, 5.60 ERA) will make a spot start Wednesday in the series finale.
Pirates: Center fielder Starling Marte left the game at the end of the first inning with discomfort in his right side. Santiago has made two starts this season.
Pittsburgh's top hitter this year is Starling Marte, who had 48 hits, 29 runs, six homers and 19 RBI coming into this set. Adam Frazier led the game off with a solo home run, and the Bucs went on to score four runs in the inning.
The Bucs and White Sox complete their two-game series today at 12:35pm.
"I pulled a lot of fastballs, which is weird for me because usually if I miss then I'm missing up and away or up and in to a lefty", Santiago said. "I thought it was just two pitches that left the yard".
Fulmer was given extra rest after compiling a 6.23 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in 30 1/3 innings that include eight starts and one relief appearance. "I feel like, for the most part, we were anticipating slower, earlier and it kind of just worked out for us". Trevor Williams started for the Pirates, and did not allow a run over seven innings.
