Entertainment to alter a clause meant to grant POW! non-exclusive rights to use his name to instead secretly grant POW! an exclusive right to use Lee's name. "Defendants, and each of them, knew that their objective was unlawful and they meant to aid each other in achieving that unlawful objective".
A detailed exposé in The Hollywood Reporter last month alleged that Lee has been the victim of elder abuse at the hands of his daughter J.C. and others who have sought to profit from his fame and fortune.
However, the suit says, Champion and POW!
He's now suing his former business manager Jerardo Olivarez for fraud, accusing him of mismanaging his affairs and embezzling millions of dollars, at the time when he was grieving over the death of Joan Lee in 2017. According to the suit, while Lee's "beloved wife was on her deathbed, and Lee was in a state of total devastation", Champion and Duffy brokered a deal to sell POW! to Camsing, and "never disclosed the actual terms of the deal to Lee before closing it".
Due to Lee's advanced macular degeneration he has lost most of his vision and can not read.
Lee explained that he would not have knowingly signed the licence and that he suspects someone induced him into signing the document by using a "bait and switch" tactic, telling Lee that the document was something else. Entertainment - including current CEO Shane Duffy, and Gill Champion, with whom he co-founded the production company - for a whopping BILLION BUCKS. claiming they either tricked him into signing over the exclusive rights to his name, image and likeness - or flat-out forged his signature.
Lee also claims POW! took control of his social media accounts and has been impersonating him - something he's recently addressed on Twitter. "Lee has yet to provide anyone with the exclusive right to use his identity, image, name and likeness".
Lee claims that Olivarez used his influence to convince him to sign over powers of attorney.
Lee is seeking compensatory and punitive damages totalling $1 billion, rescission of the illegitimate document and injunctive relief.
