James Wan's The Conjuring franchise has spawned a few spinoffs, including the not-too-scary (but still financially successful) Annabelle films (about the possessed doll who wreaks havoc while sitting there, doing nothing).
It's been a good few years now since fans of The Conjuring were gifted with the second installment of the spooky horror franchise. It stars Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story), Bonnie Aarons and Charlotte Hope. Together they uncover the order's unholy secret and risk their lives - and their souls - to confront a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun as the abbey becomes a battleground between the living and the damned. The current script for "The Nun" is written by Gary Dauberman and Wan.
Joining Hardy behind the scenes are director of photography Maxime Alexandre ("The Voices", "Annabelle: Creation"), production designer Jennifer Spence ("Annabelle: Creation", "Lights Out", the "Insidious" films), editors Michel Aller ("Lights Out", "Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension") and Ken Blackwell ( "Ouija" "Friday the 13th"), and costume designer Sharon Gilham (TV's "Black Mirror").
The trailer concludes with the young nun walking through the dark - not aware that she's being followed by the evil nun, who then leaps out. The Nun is about a priest named Father Burke who is sent to Romania to investigate the mysterious death of a nun.
The Nun will have you "praying for forgiveness" when it hits theaters on September 7! Pictures, a Warner Bros.
