The Redmond software behemoth announced on Friday that, come next month, its staff will no longer be combing the official forums for 13 outdated products to offer support advice and assistance. Vole is also stopping support for Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2, Surface RT, Surface 2, Microsoft Band and Zune.

Microsoft's Answers forums are one of the first lines of defence for users searching for resolutions to issues about their Microsoft product.
People can fix their issues by getting answers from other users. But there will be "no proactive reviews, monitoring, answering, or answer marking of questions", Microsoft said. The company continues to welcome the use of its community forums to ask questions from each other as long as you don't expect answers from Microsoft moderators.
The support for the below products will be discontinued across different forums in the Community.
Customers are still able to get paid support from Microsoft through to the end of the extended support periods.
Microsoft surely has a plan for 2020 when Windows 7 support ends and it may be the case that the company plans to push users even more towards Windows 10 by ending forum support in July 2018 already.
While Microsoft still keeps Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 in extended support, it's clear that the firm is shifting support scope to mainline supported devices shifting forward.
