The game company is facing backlash from PlayStation 4 players who are disappointed that they can't access their PlayStation 4 accounts for the wildly popular battle royale game Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch. That means losing outfits, rewards, and in-game purchases, too. Apparently, once players use their Fortnite account even once on the PlayStation 4, it will be locked to that console.
Sony has given a response of sorts to player criticism of Fortnite accounts used on PlayStation being blocked from playing on Nintendo Switch-but the company refused to actually address the complaints.
Consumers, however, are unimpressed.
Sony falls short of admitting there is a problem but does make it clear that at least it offers cross-play on some platforms.
"We do [believe people will subscribe], and I say that because what we've laid out is a proposition where, yes you get the competitive play accessibility, you also get the cloud save, and you get access to the legacy content". But we know from a company perspective there's a lot more up our sleeve and a lot more we have to show in the weeks and months ahead. Save on numerous Xbox One consoles, games like PUBG, as well as codes for free months of Xbox Live Gold.
The release of Fortnite on Nintendo Switch was inevitable but still a very welcome bit of E3 news - especially with the whole "it's out now" angle. And while it's out and it's excellent on Nintendo's handheld, there's one thing fans are still bitter about, and it's Sony's cross-play policy.
Then, earlier this week, it became available via Nintendo's Switch, a console that easily transforms from a home system to a portable, and it was downloaded two million times. Those games can only be played on the PlayStation 4, and Sony should be confident in those titles, and the other features that set PlayStation apart.
Once you've collected enough resources to build something, you can begin assembling walls and ramps for protection, with the game also allowing players to create traps. "Neither the Fortnite website nor Epic Games Customer Service are able to change this". We have a contract with the people who go online with us, that we look after them and they are within the PlayStation curated universe. Perhaps the Sony rep who crafted the above statement should consider a second career in politics.
