The diver claimed Musk had "no idea" about the interiors of the cave, and his specially designed submarine could not had travelled beyond 50 metres inside the sharply edged caves, stretching for almost 12 kilometres.
Vernon Unsworth, a senior member of the 18-member multinational team involved in the rescue operation, drew Musk's wrath after he criticised his plan to send a mini-submarine to free the kids stranded in the caves. In a recent interview with CNN, the diver said the sub had "no chance of working". "The submarine, I believe, was about 5ft 6in long, rigid, so it wouldn't have gone round corners or round any obstacles", he added.
"It wouldn't have made the first 50 meters into the cave from the dive start point", Unsworth continued.
He added that Mr Musk was asked to leave "very quickly" when he arrived.
In other replies to critics on Twitter Sunday morning, Musk said, "Stay tuned jack-- ..."

Elon Musk called a diver who helped in the Thai cave rescue a "pedo guy" in a lengthy Twitter thread on Sunday. He also said he'd make a decision regarding legal action later this week when he returns to the United Kingdom.
All 12 boys and their coach were rescued from the Tham Luang cave last week, with many having been trapped for over two weeks. The "Wild Boars" football team had been stuck in the cave since June 23.
Each of the boys, ages 11-16 and with no diving experience, was guided out by divers though rocky, muddy and water-filled passages that in places were just a crawl space.
Musk caused more waves on Twitter in late May when he attacked the press for writing articles about Tesla that did not paint the company in an especially favorable light, saying he was going to create a website to rate journalists. He later lashed out saying that he would make a video proving that his "mini-sub" would have been successful, the Guardian reported. It's unclear why Musk saw fit to use such unhinged language in a dispute that had nothing to do with such subject matter.
Jason Mallinson said, "I've never done anything as risky as that and I don't think I ever will again, but it was the only option we had and we took it".
Speaking to reporters on Monday outside the cave complex, Unsworth said the baseless comments were an attack on the entire rescue crew.
