The company has also seen fit to indicate how many shotgun pellets hit a rival player, providing more context as to why a point-blank shotgun shot only registered 8 damage. Epic has unveiled a new desert biome, giving you a break from the familiar luscious green pastures of the island. Also, after firing a shotgun, you won't be able to use a different shotgun for a short amount of time, presumably to avoid players weapon switching to fire off shotguns faster than they were created to be shot. For season 5, Epic is changing things up adding new locations called Paradise Palms and Lazy Links, and there are new unnamed POIs too across the island. If you had the Season 4 Battle Pass you'll get some free levels on this one to kick start your progress, but there's also a change this time to how challenges are handled. We don't yet know where those are, but we'll update this story once the new season has gone live.
A brand new vehicle has been added: the All Terrain Kart or ATK. The ATK also features a speed boost after drifting, the roof acting as a bounce pad and passengers in the back being able to help the driver leap over vehicles by leaning back and releasing.
Interestingly, the centre of some Storm circles will now shift in random directions as well as shrink. Epic is also changing the way progressive challenges work - your progress toward completing these now carries over between seasons. This means that if you're really close to a new reward and the new season is imminent, you won't lose your chance to get that skin you spent the whole month trying to earn.
