The news of the contract signing, like the July 1 announcement the 33-year-old would part ways with the Cleveland Cavaliers for Los Angeles, was announced on Twitter by Klutch Sports, the agency that represents James.
And we, happily, all know how that turned out.
LeBron James is apparently pretty excited about the Los Angeles Lakers' young players, which should not be too surprising. He loves to compete and is an awesome leader who is about winning and making sure that his team-mates are successful. With that in mind, former Lakers great Kobe Bryant has offered Walton some keen advice about how he should go about coaching the four-time league MVP, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.
Los Angeles can collectively exhale.
The Lakers have not been to the play-offs since 2013 and James will set out to take them back. "We will continue forward and do everything necessary to achieve that shared obsession of bringing the No. 17 pennant to the best fans in the world - the Lakers Nation".
Yet Wright, speaking on First Things First, insists that James did not join the Lakers on the basis that he would team up with Leonard and that he is relaxed about his chances of reaching a ninth straight Finals. James won two titles with the Miami Heat and one with the Cavaliers.
James played in all 82 games last season, tallying a team-high 27.5 points (third in the NBA), acareer-high-tying 8.6 rebounds and a career-high 9.1 assists (second in the NBA) while shooting54.2 percent from the field.
He ranks seventh in career National Basketball Association scoring with 31,038 points, 11th in all-time assists with 8,208 and 16th in career steals with 1,865.
