Joking aside, we're more than a little shocked that we're looking at a hamster in a mechanical ball right now, instead of the chimpanzee many guessed Hammond would be. The last hero added was Brigitte, a support class character that followed Moira, Doomfist, and Orisa as new additions to the game.
Now that Overwatch's hero 28 has been revealed, the community can pivot from theorizing about who the new fighter would be to analyzing their relevance to the future metagame. Unlike Winston, our hamster pilot isn't great at communication and speaks through the minor AI of his mech. The final teaser seems to clear things up and shows the face of hero number 28 of Overwatch to be a chubby hamster.
We now do not know anything about Hammond, including his abilities or class in game, but we will update once Blizzard gives us more information. Unless you were expecting a hyper-intelligent hamster named Hammond with his own robotic rolling hamster ball, in which case, nicely done! As the sixth tank hero in the Overwatch lineup, Wrecking Ball provides disruption while also being an aggressive bruiser that bullies the enemy's backline, eliminating vulnerable heroes that are left unguarded.
Hammond comes from Horizon Lunar Colony, the same moon-based facility that was the former home of Winston the scientist (also ape). The hamster is called Hammond, who fans of the IP will know is the missing specimen from the Horizon Lunar Colony. It turns out that he attached his escape pod onto Winston's and crash-landed near Junkertown, Australia, where the heroes Roadhog and Junkrat reside. But whether you're wary about jumping into the PTR or are a PS4 or Xbox One player, you may not get to try him until he's brought to the live game.
