A spokesperson for Showtime, the U.S. channel that airs the programme, said there had been "widespread misinformation" about Baron Cohen's character Billy Wayne Ruddick Jr PhD, a parody of an online conspiracy theorist, who interviewed Bernie Sander's in the show's first episode.
"I support the kinder-guardians program", Lott explained, adding that America should support arming teachers, students, and even "highly trained preschoolers".
Other key moments from the program included Van Cleefe stating he killed a bill that would prevent four year old's having access to guns, Gun Owners of America director Larry Pratt laughing about marital rape and Cohen recruiting USA politicians Trent Lott, Dana Rohrabacher, Joe Wilson and Joe Walsh to support his Kinderguardians scheme.
Before the show's debut, Showtime released a clip of Cohen, several politicians, and other important people advocating for a fake program called Kinderguardian-a gun training plan for young children around the ages of four and five.
Cohen's congressional hijinks are part of a larger segment lampooning different Republican stances on gun control.
Walsh told CNN on Saturday that he was tricked into reading the words off a teleprompter.
Well, the first episode of Who Is America?
"The only thing that stops a bad man with a gun is a good boy with a gun", Morad says.
He said, "They had me read about this 4-year-old child in Israel who, when a terrorist entered his classroom, somehow he grabbed the terrorist's gun and held the terrorist at bay".
Walsh said that he thought, as he was reading it, "Well, this is kind of insane, but it is Israel and Israel is strong on defense", and that he only later "found out this whole thing was made up".
"Stolen valor" was also referenced by the conservative pundit and former congressman Joe Walsh, who was also duped by Baron Cohen and claimed that the comedian was mocking disabled war veterans.
WHO IS AMERICA? airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
The seven-episode show marked Baron Cohen's first television project in a decade after he launched his comedy career as a white English rapper Ali G., whose interviewees included Donald Trump and Newt Gingrich.
The prank comes after Sarah Palin accused Cohen, 46, of duping her into doing an interview by posing as a wounded veteran.
