Adult film star Stormy Daniels, who is locked in a court battle with President Donald Trump over their alleged affair, was arrested late Wednesday while performing at a strip club after allegedly "fondling" patrons, police said.
The attorney for porn actress Stormy Daniels says prosecutors have dropped all charges against her following her overnight arrest at an OH adult club.
'A customer touched her in a non-sexual manner and she was subsequently arrested for allowing the customer to touch her in a non-sexual manner, ' he said.
He later tweeted that he expected Daniels to be released on bail "shortly" and charged with a misdemeanour for "touching".
Mr Avenatti wrote: "This was a setup & politically motivated".
Stormy Daniels can chalk this one up as a quickie - the charges from her Columbus, Ohio strip club arrest have already been dropped.
The 39-year-old has piqued the nation's interest: More than 22 million people tuned in to see her speak on CBS news show "60 minutes" in May. "I deeply apologize to my fans in Columbus", she said.
There's still some confusion about what exactly happened inside the Sirens Gentleman's Club in Columbus, Ohio last night.
Adult film star Stormy Daniels was arrested Thursday and charged with breaking a controversial and little-known OH state law called the Community Defense Act, which prohibits adult dancers from touching patrons and vice versa. The strip club where she reportedly performed, called Sirens, also declined to comment when asked about the matter. Avenatti tweeted that his client would not perform at the club Thursday night.
Through White House officials, Trump has denied the affair, although Cohen has admitted paying Daniels $130,000 as part of the agreement.
Daniels filed lawsuits against both Cohen and Trump for defamation.
The case also revolves around Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer who is under investigation for a range of financial matters, including a payment to Daniels that was apparently made right before the 2016 election.
"This was a complete set up", he said.
