Unai Emery has no plans to seek the advice of his Arsenal predecessor Arsene Wenger after replacing the Frenchman as Gunners boss. Former skipper Per Mertesacker retired after last season, while vice-captain Laurent Koscielny is out injured until at least December. The Gunners' last additions to the squad, aimed at strengthening their midfield, have been Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi.
Speaking in English - which, while can be described as a work in progress, has still shown an excellent improvement from his unveiling at the Emirates in May, after intensive lessons this summer - spoke at length about his squad.
Normally, in my career the big clubs don't close the [door] or the moment to sign a new player. Maybe we can bring in one if there's a very good possibility for them to help us, but the club has done a great job of signing new players and I am happy.
"Koscielny is the first captain now, then we are looking for the player who the personality is the best in the dressing room to keep respect of players". At the moment, I think the squad is complete.
"We signed the players who we needed and only if one player is a big opportunity for us will we sign them".
The 27-year-old midfielder has scored 58 goals in his 327 appearances for the club, scoring in two FA Cup finals, so it's no big surprise fans have had restless evenings about his contract expiration because he is one of the best candidate favourites at the North London club.
"I know him", said Emery, who worked with N'Zonzi at Sevilla.
"I am convinced that Arsenal are now the ideal team for him to continue his growth path". "I said to Ivan, Raul and Sven [Gazidis, Sanllehi and Mislintat, the collective dealing with contracts and transfers] he's an important player for me".
Ramsey has already returned to pre-season training under Emery.
