On Monday, the former aide released another conservation she recorded between herself and President Trump in which the commander in chief seemed surprised over her termination. But, he argued, "Fake News Media will be working overtime to make even Wacky Omarosa look legitimate as possible", so he is taking to his "modern day form of communication" to pound her and defend himself.
Manigault Newman, who was sacked from her White House job last December replied, saying, "General Kelly - General Kelly came to me and said that you guys wanted me to leave".
"I heard his voice as clear as you and I are sitting here", she said on the show. I didn't know that. "What happened?" Trump asked on the recording.
That was the juiciest bite about Trump, but the true marvel was the interview itself, as the Omarosa got testy with Guthrie on air for keeping her past the agreed upon time limit.
The recording Manigault-Newman released on Sunday revealed Kelly fired her over "significant integrity issues".
She alleged that other people have been treated the same way by Kelly, and she voted to blow the whistle on corruption she saw in the House House. During the August 13 episode of the TODAY show, she played an audio recording of a conversation she claims went down one day after her firing, per NBC News.
Manigault Newman has been making the rounds, doing interviews to promote her book and as part of that has released audio she secretly recorded of others in the Trump White House. She acknowledges she had never been able to obtain or hear the tapes but said three unnamed sources had described their contents. "I would rarely see her but heard really bad things".
He continued: 'Then on top of that, her character and her integrity have been impugned beyond measure. "Goddamn it. I don't love you leaving at all".
The former "Celebrity Apprentice" star said Mr. Trump "absolutely" lies all the time, and she isn't sure if he lied during his call with her.
Critics have denounced the recordings as a serious breach of ethics and security.
'Right the very idea that a staff member, a former staff member, would go into the situation room and attempt to record someone else shows a complete disregard for national security, ' he said. "Not only is this flat-out false (I've never heard such a thing), but Omarosa didn't even make an effort to call or email me to verify".
In his tweets on Monday morning (local time), Trump claimed that Manigault Newman frequently missed work commitments and was called a "loser" by Kelly.
Guthrie grilled Manigault Newman about Trump during their sit-down on Monday, and the conversation got tense as Manigault Newman replied defensively.
When asked if she broke the law, Giuliani said: "She's certainly violating national security regulations, which I think have the force of law".
