The fires have scorched states from Washington to New Mexico, with California among the hardest hit. He was flown to a hospital after suffering injuries while fighting an active portion of the Ranch Fire, within the Mendicino Complex fire, Monday night.
The Mendocino Complex includes the Ranch and River fires and has burned almost 350,000 acres in Mendocino, Lake and Colusa counties.
This includes as many as 80 million acres of land filled with trees that have died from beetle infections or other causes.
"The significant challenge for the Ranch Fire is the terrain it's starting to burn into. Sorry if we weren't supposed to". The fire that started on July 13, one month ago Monday is now 83 percent contained.
"It's always easier to have a single point of focus rather than two".
"A lot of this is determined based on the drought, Mother Nature, what kind of winds we get", Wright said.
"Fact finding on the accident is ongoing and notification of the next of kin is in progress", Cal Fire said. It is now threatening more than 1,500 others.
"Both were in for quite a shock when they returned home to a well-fed fish!" read the Cal Fire tweet.

California's wildfires are now burning through land at a pace more than three times faster than last year's blazes. As it has grown to cover more than 202,000 acres, 1,077 homes, 22 commercial structures and 500 other buildings have burned. But most of that has been driven by the Ranch Fire, which has burned much more vigorously. It began as result of vehicle mechanical failure.
"Fed your fish a few sprinkles. Good luck", wrote members of the Corning Police Department.
The wildfire is the biggest recorded in California and is located about 100 miles north of San Francisco.
Firefighters who have been battling the Holy Jim Canyon in eastern Orange County paused on Monday to provide life-saving aid to a deer who was suffering from heat exhaustion and dehydration.
