Shy is not a word we'd ever use to describe Terrell Owens. The Hall of Fame finally offered him an opportunity to be recognized as one of the greatest football players in history, and he flat refused.
"I will leave a legacy that will leave an imprint on this world forever". Speaking in front of a packed stadium, the 44-year-old went after the sportswriters who he blames for everything that took place. "It's about the mere fact that the sportswriters aren't aligned with the mission and the core values of the Hall of Fame".
Owens speech, delivered at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga (with a bucket of popcorn by his side), ran just over 39 minutes, according to CBS Sports' John Breech.
Moss reached out to Vikings fans and thanked one man in particular.
Owens thanked everyone from his late grandmother and mother to coaches from his high school days in Alexander City, Alabama, through his time at Chattanooga and into the NFL. And he enters the Hall of Fame the exact same way, refusing to take the stage with his fellow honorees.
"And when they ostracized me and tried to keep me from what I rightfully earned not once but twice, I remember the text, " Owens said, referring to his mother. Owens claims he's taking a stance because there's a flaw in Hall of Fame voting process.
"If I had to pick, it would be a combination of both guys", Rice said with a laugh. "He (Gailey) chose not to bring me back, and I knew I could still have been a productive player".
"We have more commonalities than differences".
The difference between Bosa and Smith's situation, though, is that the National Football League introduced a new rule this year which will greatly affect how defenders play the game.
Owens told the media after his speech that, at first, the Hall of Fame wasn't going to give him his gold jacket ahead of time unless he was there. I admired you from afar.
Dawkins, who played two seasons with Owens in Philadelphia, says: "That's T.O". The six-time Pro Bowler compiled 15,934 receiving yards and 153 receiving touchdowns on 1,078 career receptions. He portrayed himself as misunderstood. You texted me and said, 'You ain't gotta worry about nothing. You showed me how much I loved the game.
