"As someone totally committed to a culture of probity and accountability I have chose to resign with effect from Friday, 14th September 2018", Adeosun said in her resignation sent to President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.
Adeosun's resignation from office followed allegations of forgery of her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) exemption certificate.
It was alleged that Kemi Adeosun had resigned under pressure over controversies surrounding her NYSC certificate, but there was no confirmation yet as at the time of this report.
A statement by Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP National Publicity Secretary, called for Adeosun's immediate arrest and prosecution, while also alleging that there were plans by the Federal Government to "help her evade prosecution", by secretly moving her out of the country.
Presidenti Muhammadu Buhari's appointment of Zainab Ahmed as the new Minister of Finance has generated a flurry of reactions from Nigerians.
"She has left Nigeria".
She was later appointed Managing Director of Kaduna Investment Company.
Buhari had, on Friday, accepted the resignation of Adeosunas minister of finance.
But an internal investigation showed that it was forged.
Also, she contributed to the floating of several multibillion-dollar Eurobond offerings and led Nigeria's discussions with multilateral institutions. This has come as a shock to me and I believe that in line with this administration's focus on integrity, I must do the honourable thing and resign.
