Last week, Twentieth Century Fox admitted that a scene from the upcoming Predator film was cut, owing to the scene featuring a registered sex offender who served a jail sentence for a sex crimes charge.
Olivia Munn must feel like she's all alone on a deserted island. During a scheduled interview with The Hollywood Reporter, all of Munn's co-stars bailed on her, with the exception of 11-year-old actor Jacob Tremblay. I don't know how to skirt around the issue. You deserve to go make money, but not alongside me in a film.
No doubt this would be emotional for anybody - and when you combine it with other comments she made about the situation over the weekend, it's easy to understand that Munn does NOT feel supported by her colleagues right now. "I do not take any of what has gone on lightly, and I want to speak from the most honest and genuine place possible. If you're going to ask me, that's going to be my choice".
The actor's words concern the objections Munn raised about the hiring of Steven Wilder Striegel to appear in a scene in the film.
Another co-star Sterling K. Brown had publicly thanked Munn for doing "the right thing".
"The support from online and when I walk down the street and random girls say "thank you" and 'you're my hero, ' it just means so much because you kind of need that validation sometimes or you think, 'Am I insane?"
Sterling K. Brown, Olivia Munn's co-star in "The Predator", has come to her support via social media amid the sexual predator casting scandal that's been plaguing the film's press tour.
"Our studio was not aware of Mr. Striegel's background when he was hired", Fox told The Associated Press on Thursday just hours before the sci-fi movie premiered at Toronto International Film Festival.
While the Iron Man 3 director did put out a public apology, he has yet to contact Munn privately.
"Having read this morning's news reports, it has sadly become clear to me that I was misled by a friend I really wanted to believe was telling me the truth when he described the circumstances of his conviction". I think people get really tired of the whole Times Up thing and Me Too and I get it, it's exhausted hearing people screaming and yelling.
Other cast members such as Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, and Keegan-Michael Key have remained silent on the issue. Striegel was arrested in 2009 for trying to seduce a 14-year-old girl online.
However things work out for Black and Munn, you can expect some of this tension to still be in the air by the time The Predator hits United States theaters on September 14th.
