The game also broke a record in terms of highest level of viewership through launch weekend on Twitch.
And Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is not an exemption as players already spotted an aimbot hack in the game. The two consoles are expected to get succeeded by a newer product in a few years from now and they may just skip the disc driver. That ties it with last year's WWII for first weekend sales - and that game had a hugely anticipated return-to-its-roots campaign attached to it. WWII's hype fizzed out rather quickly, while Blackout (and the rest of the multiplayer suite) will likely keep Black Ops 4 going for ages. Black Ops 3 earned $550 million in that same time frame, becoming the biggest entertainment launch of 2015 up to that point.
Another record is for day on digital sales on Playstation through Playstation Store worldwide.
Call of Duty toys by McFarlane Toys will also have Black Ops 4 Double XP Codes included. Sales figures based on retail customer sell-through information, Gfk Chart-Track data, and internal Activision estimates. That isn't really saying very much though, given that many players abandoned the PC version of Call of Duty years ago.
The game is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Battle.net.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is published by Activision and developed by Treyarch with additional development support from Raven Software and PC development with Beenox. This has led to changes such as an easier looting system to make this one of the best player experiences for Battle Royale games. It's rated M for Mature (Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, Strong Language).
