After much debate, OnePlus 6T is now finally coming a day early as the official launch event in New York City is moved to October 29. But yesterday, in a move that OnePlus seemingly didn't expect, Apple began sending out invites to an event that is set to be held on the exact same date. However, that changed when Apple announced that it would its own event on the same day. While the Oneplus 6T is quite popular in the unlocked segment, the carriers should help the company to reach wider audiences. Making matters worse, Apple's event would be held in NY, meaning a lot of journalists would potentially have to double up on coverage. OnePlus says that it will be reaching out to each ticket holder individually so keep an eye out for that communication, while the rest of you who aren't shipping out to NY can find all of the details about the OnePlus 6T right here at SlashGear on October 29.
In the same post, Lau also ensured people who had purchased tickets to attend the OnePlus 6T launch live in NY, that the company will be helping them out with making the required changes to their travel and accomodation plans, and that OnePlus will also offer a full refund on the event ticket price to anyone who is unable to attend it because of the change. Journalists would have to divide their attention, and chances are OnePlus would get the short stick.
The original date of October 30 would have pitted OnePlus against Apple's own October 30 hardware event.
The OnePlus 6T launch event will now kick off at 11am on October 29.
If anything, this is cool for the rest of us because we'll see the phone one day earlier.
