The Cavaliers will open the regular season Wednesday against the Raptors. With Kevin Love taking the keys to the kingdom and newly-drafted rookie Collin Sexton figuring to take the torch down the line, another foundational piece is now putting pen to paper.
"I've got 81 games, baby, that's all the matters", Butler said when asked if he expects to remain with Minnesota. WKSU's Mark Arehart talked with sports commentator Terry Pluto about Larry Nance Jr. and the deal he signed this week. "We had a personality who was a huge leader in LeBron James, who brought it every single day, who put his time in, and was very vocal, and continued to grow in his sense as a leader".
Just the year before as a sophomore he was playing for Revere's junior varsity team.
The Cavaliers and big man Larry Nance Jr. have been working on a contract extension and they came to an agreement Monday.
But this experience will be vastly different from his first go-around as a team leader with the Minnesota Timberwolves, who failed to make the playoffs in Love's first six National Basketball Association seasons.
More from Cleveland.com: "Nance, an Akron-native, worked with the Cavs so his salary declines as the deal goes along and the team can maintain cap flexibility". I ran around, jumped, blocked a couple shots (Tuesday) so I feel good doing everything.
"I was the only person to live in L.A. and vacation in Cleveland", he said.
"We're going to have to and if not, guys are going to sit down", Lue said.
"The only thing I didn't want was I didn't want to be with a team that was going to tank or not be competitive", Love said.
Leonard's old team, the Spurs, got a firsthand look at this year's trade saga in Butler and Minnesota.
"I haven't come up with the word for it yet", Nance said.
Giving up their leading scorer and fan favorite DeRozan for Leonard, who can depart after one season, was a risk that the Raptors were willing to take after repeated playoff failures.
