Marcus Mariota threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score after fumbling on Tennessee's first two possessions, and the Titans spoiled Amari Cooper's Dallas debut with a 28-14 victory over the Cowboys on Monday night.
Titans defensive back Kevin Byard made a decision to get a turnover of his own as well.
The week nine slate concludes with the Dallas Cowboys (3-4) facing off against the Tennessee Titans (3-4). "What I recognize is not so much the three wins and five losses but the way we lost this game and the way we played in the game". In the first two possessions for the Titans, the defense forced two fumbles and was able to capitalize on one of those turnovers, which was the 4-yard touchdown to Cooper.
The offense failed to take advantage of Titans miscues, while the defense didn't play their best towards the end of the game, especially allowing the Titans to convert 11-of-14 for 78 percent on third down chances for the entire game.
And the normally upbeat owner and general manager doesn't care to discuss the NFC East standings, even though the Cowboys can pull even with defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia by getting their first road win of the season at the Eagles on Sunday. Offensively the running game was there, where Zeke picked up around 26 yards alone on his first three carries.
After getting sacked on third down with nobody realizing Tennessee had called timeout in a 7-7 game in the second quarter, Mariota completed a 36-yarder to Darius Jennings before a screen pass to Dion Lewis went 18 yards for a touchdown. One thing Prescott didn't do last night was run the ball.
He did the same late in the fourth quarter against Washington. The two turnovers were Prescott's first at home this season. Byard celebrated by jetting out of the end zone and sprinting to the star. Prescott was 21 of 31 for 243 yards and two scores - 4 yards to Cooper and 23 yards to Allen Hurns.
"I was actually expecting somebody to knock my head off", said Byard, who thought about the possible celebration at the team hotel.
"I gave 'em the drip, they sucked it up, I got 'em on it", Owens posted on Twitter. "We want to play better than we played (Monday), so I certainly think each individual and coach and front-office person is going to have to do better, including me".
In the days leading into this game, Prescott wasn't coy. The Cowboys don't have a first round pick in the upcoming draft.
