There's no word on who Carano will be playing but it certainly appears she will have a major role in the series following the casting news about Pascal on Tuesday.
According to Variety, the Game Of Thrones and Narcos actor had been one of those under consideration and is now negotiating to take the lead. It has also been announced that Disney is now developing multiple limited series featuring characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for their upcoming streaming service.
The Mandalorian is the first live-action series set in the Star Wars universe.
Although only a loose description has been revealed, the show sounds like it's taking a Western-style approach to its story, with The Mandalorian as a "lone gunfighter" trying to survive on the outer edge of the galaxy, far from the civilized heart of the of the New Republic trying to rebuild after the galactic civil war.
Carano is best known for her role as Angel Dust in Deadpool.
The exact nature of the actress and former mixed martial arts (MMA) star's role in the "Star Wars" series is being kept under wraps. Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, and Deborah Chow have also been attached to direct episodes of the series. In "Star Wars" lore, Mandalorians made the iconic armor that bounty hunter Boba Fett, and his "father" Jango Fett (he was technically an unaltered clone of Jango) wore in the films.
The Mandalorian does not yet have a release date but the Disney direct-to-consumer platform will launch in late 2019.
The highly anticipated new series has lined up some serious star power behind the camera too.
