OnePlus 6T is a brand new flagship smartphone from the Chinese start-up. And, the powerful Snapdragon 845 processor paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage definitely give it the performance to hold its own against the competition.
The OnePlus 6T is available now from the OnePlus website and, here in the US, from T-Mobile. Indeed, there are features that the OnePlus 6T doesn't have that its competitors do, which could help explain its lower price tag.
OnePlus 6T is the company's first device to come with the futuristic Screen Unlock technology with a bigger 3700 mAh battery, accompanied by OnePlus' popular fast charging technology. One is called T-Mobile, the other is Unlock. However, many will lament the loss of the headphone jack with the 6T. Storage starts at 128GB this time instead of 64GB, but the $549 base model has 6GB of RAM. In all likelihood it'll nearly certainly be behind that of the Global (unlocked) version of the phone every time OnePlus has an update. According to OnePlus representative Kameron S, "OnePlus 6Ts purchased through T-Mobile are locked to the T-Mobile Network until the device is paid in full and utilized on their service for 40 continuous days". As part of the offer, Jio customers who buy the OnePlus 6T will get cashback worth Rs 5,400 on the first recharge of Rs 299. The carrier phone also isn't eligible for the OnePlus beta program. The device that T-Mobile sells only comes in the $579 Mirror Black configuration with 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM.
"Honestly, it has some the same specs as some of the very high-end phones but I can afford it", explained Michelle Sawh, a user of a previous OnePlus device. Those updates have to be certified by T-Mobile, so that's going to cause a delay, however small. In other words, even an old OnePlus X that wasn't even $300 at retail can be traded-in right now for a $300 discount on the OnePlus 6T. T-Mobile offers the max trade-in value for all OnePlus phones, even the OnePlus One from 2014.
