"I don't think he's a smart person, but he's got a loud voice", Trump added.
On Thursday night, Kimmel slammed the Trump administration, and particularly White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, for sharing a doctored video of Acosta during a Wednesday press conference, and the host insisted that Sanders "should be forced to resign" for spreading lies.
Trump has harshly criticized journalists across the board this week - he called Acosta a "rude, bad person" and said he was not smart, and he also mocked foreign reporters for their accents. Acosta made a decision to ask Trump why he seemingly "demonized" the immigrants traveling to the American border at the moment.
As he was heading off to Paris, Trump stopped to talk to reporters and was asked how long Acosta's pass would be revoked.
"When you say 'doctored, ' you're a dishonest guy", Trump told the reporter on November 9.
The president then moved to address the next questioner, NBC News White House correspondent Peter Alexander, who defended Acosta. "The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is disgusting", he said, referring to his press secretary.
Trump also told April Ryan of the Urban National Radio Network to "sit down" and wait her turn. But she's very nasty, and she shouldn't be.
The official Twitter account posted a statement which read: "This President's ongoing attacks on the press have gone too far".
The president also warned that "others" could have their press passes revoked as well if they engaged in similar behavior.
"Secretary Sanders lied", CNN said in a statement, saying the press pass suspension was "done in retaliation for challenging questions".
Acosta asked very few actual questions during his exchange with Trump. When you're in the White House, this is a very sacred place to be.
Ryan took the high road on Twitter and also responded to Abby Phillip, who tweeted about Trump's comments.
On Friday, Trump said of Acosta, "He was not nice to that young woman". The way you treat other people is awful. Phillip asked of the special counsel's Russian Federation investigation.
A frame-by-frame comparison of the video shows that Sander's clip has been edited to speed up Acosta's arm movement as he touches the woman's arm.
When a White House intern tried to take a microphone from Acosta, he blocked her with his arm. Trump's insults "are nothing new". "Even if President Trump doesn't intend it, some see him as directly appealing to the racists", she wrote.
Between Ryan, Phillip and Yamiche Alcindor of PBS' "NewsHour", that makes three black, female reporters that the president dealt with harshly in the past three days.
CNN has been working behind the scenes on a resolution that would restore Acosta's pass.
